I Can Hear the Yarn Screaming

Again, just because we can knit something, it doesn't mean that we should.

I feel sad for the yarn.

Knitty-Knitty, Mooty-Mooty

This past weekend I had the privilege of meeting the beautiful and charming Evangeline. We've waited a long time for her, and meeting her for the first time was a complete privilege. In honour of her arrival, I made her the following knitted item, which I have been working on since August.

Now, not to toot my own horn but...toot-toot! I am officially a genius with two pointy sticks and a ball of yarn.

I give you: "Cabled Coat with Hood" and "Bunny with Scarf", both knit by yours truly. (Click on picture to enlarge).

Following my visit with Eve, I went downtown to check into the Delta Chelsea for the prestigious Wilson Moot Competition. A moot is a mock court in which law students argue hypothetical cases for practice . Why? Because it's fun to pretend you're Matlock, that's why.

But, why "moot" you might ask. To quote Friends:

Joey: All right, Rach. The big question is, "does he like you?" All right? Because if he doesn't like you, this is all a moo point.

Rachel: Huh. A moo point?

Joey: Yeah, it's like a cow's opinion. It just doesn't matter. It's “moo”.

Even though we all did very well, we didn't win anything and that was a bit disappointing. However, I learned more than I ever could have learned in class or on my own, and had a great opportunity to get on my feet.

Not only was the learnin' good, so was the eatin': the free eats provided were outstanding and represented a nice break in an otherwise steady diet of lean cuisine. (Fillet mignon at the Park Hyatt Roof Lounge, anyone?)

Despite the stress, crazy amounts of work for the past 3 months, the arguments, frustration, being one month behind in my regular classes, severe weather, travel disasters (I hope to reunite with my suitcase containing 2/3 of my total suit collection today, 2 days after my plane landed)... I think I still (may) want to be a lawyer when I grow up.
